No. 002 is 31 square meters in Kamppi, in a Jugend house from 1911. An old building sets the frame: thick walls, a high ceiling, a bay window. You do not compete with those, you make room for them.
Square meters, upward
A small apartment sleeps four when the second bed is lifted into the air. The loft bed above the entry was the single most important decision of the renovation: it frees the part of the floor a bed would otherwise occupy, and the high ceiling makes the loft a real place to sleep rather than a shelf.

The bay window got to stay what it is: a place to sit by the glass. It became a reading nook rather than storage, because a hundred-year-old window seat should not be buried under boxes.
New machinery, old house
The bathroom fit a washer and dryer, a heated towel rack and a lit mirror, all under a wood ceiling. In an old house you do not tear open what works; new machinery is fitted in so that it does not shout.
The street is quiet, but the city center starts around the corner. That combination is rarer in Helsinki than you would think, and it is exactly what comes up in the reviews most often.
